Tips to Increase Chances of Passing the Smoke Emission Test

Here in the Philippines, major cities in Metro Manila employ teams of anti-smoke belching units to test trucks and vans that pass through their area of coverage. A lot of the trucks usually have expired results of their smoke emission test and so are requested to be tested on site. Usually, these vehicles do not pass the said test.

Some simple tips to help vehicle owners up their chances of passing the on-site smoke emission test are 1) have a regular tune up (for gasoline engines) or have the engine calibrated (for diesel engines ), 2) get the oil changed regularly, 3) make sure you have the right air-fuel ratio and 4) have your muffler cleaned regularly which is like having a colon cleanse.

These tips do not guarantee that your vehicle will pass the smoke emission test but can increase the chances that it will.
