During my last visit to the repair shop I was glad that my car’s mechanic has had allergy relief and was there to work on my car.  Otherwise, I would have waited days longer before I could have my car serviced.  So, do you know a mechanic and is that person the on who regularly services your car?

It is not easy to learn proper maintenance through blogs like mine or textbooks.  There must be visual inspections and hands-on experience.  This blog only supplements those who need to remember what to do during a particular repair or maintenance schedule.

The next things I need to get done is to have the wheels replaced, probably get new tires, have it leak tested and then get a carpet on the floor of the car. If the budget will be enough, I would want to have the door sidings restored, have its locked converted to power locks and its windows too and lastly, have it tinted. I understand that some of the things I mentioned are really not important during a travel emergency but I just want my car to be fresh and smelling good inside.

You also need to know what other things you need, like the oils, grease and other lubricants (should not be mistaken for face creams). These are the reasons why most people hire mechanics, so that they can know what’s wrong, which part needs to be repaired or replaced and what other things are needed. But the problem is, when you take a long drive to that cancun hotel or that vacation somewhere and you have to drive, you need to have it prepared for the road first. Wouldn’t it be great to do this by yourself instead of depending on others to do it? Of course, you need to learn first. That is why this blog exists, to help you learn about stuff like that. Before that, I replaced its water pump and had its oil changed (I had to because it was flooded), had its gears oiled and I also had it tuned up. I am glad that the place where I buy car parts have plenty of parts available even for an old car like mine. They have water pumps, water filters, air con parts and lots more.

Because of its good running condition we were able to drive it to Tagaytay and back with no problems. I know driving it at that distance is no real test for its condition. But, at least, at that distance it ran well.

That car maintenance guy for sure does not concern himself with other irrelevant stuff like the best under eye cream or something like that. I, as a car owner, would want that mechanic’s services.

My car is just a small one, not a trailer with Toto toilets inside, so having new carpet on it will cost not more than $50. It is not much, I know, but I have exhausted my means already and am hoping to get the reimbursement soon.

I have considered getting Outer Banks rentals but have thought against it because it would be too expensive. I was glad because I was able to save much by doing a lot of the work on the car myself.
